Flooding Tips for your Air Conditioner
If your home happens to experience flooding, be sure to turn off the air conditioner. You should NOT restart your system after a flood. In fact, in order to restart your system, you need an HVAC technician to perform a full inspection. And we can help you with that!
We will determine if your system needs to repaired or replaced. The factors that determine this will be:
- How long your system has spent underwater.
- If there was power flowing into the system while it was underwater.
- If debris from the flood got into the system.
While your system is built to withstand rain and heavy winds, once it surpasses 15 inches you might have a serious problem. Once you call us to inspect your system, we will clean the residue from the flood, check if any electrical components were damaged, inspect gas valves and ductwork, identify what needs repair or suggest a new system.
