Statesboro is a large city located in eastern Georgia. It serves as the county seat for Bulloch County and is the largest city therein. It was estimated by the United States Census Bureau that about 32,000 people lived in Statesboro. It is also one of the larger cities in the Statesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area which is home to almost 75,000 residents.

In 1803, Governor John Milledge of Georgia created the town of Statesborough by an act of the Georgia Legislature. However, it was not until three years after the end of the Civil War that the town became incorporated. In 1889, a new Charter provided for the election of a Mayor and five Councilmen to hold office for one-year terms. These individuals were elected at large and thus began the formation of the city government.

Today, the City of Statesboro claims to be a progressive community where individuals are provided an exceptional quality of life.
